The joint conference will be held over the course of three days divided between the NKR/JTMS Joint Conference and the KISA 14th Annual Convention.

The conference will be held at the Yonsei Institute for North Korean Studies, located in the Kim Dae Jung Library in Seoul, South Korea.
Yes, we plan to have online attendance options available to those who are unable to attend in person.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide funding to support international travel. International scholars wishing to attend the conference must secure funding through their home organization's travel allowance.
We are hoping to negotiate group rating at a hotel nearby the conference site and will provide more information as it becomes available.
Submissions should be emailed to paperproposals2022@gmail.com by October 1, 2022. Accepted participants (notified by October 8) will be required to submit their full draft papers/presentations by November 10, 2022.
Submissions should include an abstract (150-300 words) and a short bio (120 words).
The dual conference is intended to help scholars get the most out of their travel allowances by attending two conferences over 3 days. So, presenters can present papers at one or both conferences. You are welcome to submit more than one proposal, but a maximum of two proposals each for the NKR/JTMS Joint Conference & KISA 14th Annual Convention per author will be selected for inclusion in the conferences.
Scholars are welcome to submit multiple proposals under more than one theme, but a maximum of two proposals per conference will be selected for inclusion.
There is no limit to the length of research papers, however presentations should aim for 15-20 minutes in length.
Scholars may choose not to submit a paper with their presentation, but those scholars who only submit a presentation will not be considered for journal special issues or edited volumes. Only final submissions from selected participants which are submitted by November 10, 2022 and include full draft papers and a presentation of approximately 15-20 minutes in length will receive full consideration for edited volumes or special issues of Asian International Studies Review, North Korean Review, and the Journal of Territorial and Maritimes Studies.
Yes. Students currently undertaking a Masters or Ph.D. course in a field related to the conference topic are welcome to submit a proposal. Final judgement will be made on an individual basis upon proposal review.
